Pedestrian Killed In Crash In Allentown: Coroner

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Allentown early Monday, April 7, authorities announced.

The woman was hit around 5:30 a.m. in the area of Franklin and Hamilton Streets, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. She was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, where she was pronounced dead at 9:29 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9 to determine her official cause of death. Her identity has been confirmed, but officials are withholding her name pending family notification and confirmation of her home address.

The Allentown Police Department's Traffic Reconstruction Unit, the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office, and the Coroner’s Office are actively investigating the fatal incident.
